This concept of billing time

Billing time reminds me of this quote from William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury (book available here), which I last read in high school:

Time is dead as long as it is being clicked off by little wheels; only when the clock stops does time come to life.

So, there's a trade-off to everything.
